I 100 migliori film americani della storia del cinema secondo un sondaggio della BBC

Ennesimo sondaggio in campo per un buon ripasso di Storia del Cinema. Stavolta, organizzato dalla BBC, che ha coinvolto oltre 60 critici internazionali per stilare la classifica dei 100 migliori film americani dalla nascita della settima arte ad oggi. Il numero uno incontrastato? Ancora Quarto Potere di Orson Welles, che dopo più di settant'anni continua a farsi amare dagli esperti per la sua dose di invenzioni tecniche e perfetta esecuzione. E se i soliti noti non mancano, da Il Padrino di Francis Ford Coppola a La donna che visse due volte di Alfred Hitchcock, passando per Sentieri selvaggi di John Ford e 2001: Odissea nello spazio di Stanley Kubrick, più interessante è invece vedere quali tra i film più recenti siano riusciti ad entrare nella top 100.

Ecco ad esempio Tree of Life di Terrence Malick, Palma d'oro a Cannes 2011 e alla 79a posizione della classifica, seguito da Se mi lasci ti cancello di Michel Gondry alla 87a, da La 25a ora di Spike Lee alla 94a, da Il Cavaliere Oscuro di Christopher Nolan alla 96a e addirittura da 12 anni schiavo di Steve McQueen alla 99a. Ma la vera bestemmia che fa crollare ogni possibile credibilità dell'operazione è la totale mancanza di Clint Eastwood dai 100 titoli selezionati. Vogliamo dire: tra Gli Spietati, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River e Gran Torino c'era veramente l'imbarazzo della scelta... come diavolo è possibile non inserirne neanche uno? Ancora: Titanic di James Cameron che fine ha fatto? E le pellicole dei Coen o di David Fincher? I classici anni '90 di Tim Burton? Le magistrali prove di P. T. Anderson?
